NR (Nicotinamide Riboside)
IMPORTANT: NR is not a peptide; it is a nucleoside — another NAD+ precursor, similar to NMN but with slightly different regulatory profile and bioavailability. Marketed as Niagen by ChromaDex, it is the NAD+ precursor with the most published clinical studies.

Mechanism of Action
NR is converted to NMN and then to NAD+ via the salvage pathway. Unlike NMN, NR crosses cell membranes more easily and has more human pharmacokinetic data. It increases NAD+ in blood and tissues, activating sirtuins and improving mitochondrial function.
Benefits
Proven NAD+ increase
ProvenMultiple clinical trials confirm that oral NR increases NAD+ in human blood and tissues.
View studyCardiovascular function
Under researchClinical studies show reduced systolic blood pressure and improved arterial stiffness in middle-aged adults.
Metabolic health
Under researchStudies suggest benefits in insulin sensitivity and metabolic health markers.
Risks and Side Effects
Mild adverse events
Low(Uncommon)Nausea, fatigue, and headache reported in some clinical studies. Generally mild.
Internet vs. Science
What people say online compared to the actual scientific evidence.
Better than NMN
Partially trueWhat they claim
NR is superior to NMN because it has more clinical studies.
Actual evidence
NR has more published studies than NMN, but this does not mean it is necessarily 'better'. Head-to-head comparisons between NR and NMN are still limited. Both increase NAD+ in humans.
